Goji Claims Real and False - What are the risks?
Just what are the claims made by the ancient Tibetans, Chinese and Mongolians? What are they
based upon? Fact or fiction? Are there any risks of using these products?
Real Claims:
Goji
can reduce macular degeneration
Goji can Inhibit the body's production of LDL (lower
cholesterol)
Goji can Improve the body's ability to fight off arthritis
Goji has been shown to reverse infertility in women
Goji has been shown to increase virility in men
Goji has been shown to reduce chronic fatigue
Goji is a free radical antioxidant (helps with anti-aging)
Goji contains as much vitamin C as lemons
Goji can reverse or reduce some neurological disease
Goji has natural anti inflammatory properties
Goji has cancer preventative properties. It is a tumor inhibitor
Goji combined with LAK and IL-2 was shown to improve malignant melanoma regression
Goji was shown to improve lung cancer regression

Goji is the only fruit know to contain Omega 3 oils. These are the oils that lower
cholesterol and promote healthy
arteries.

Claims:
Claim:
"The Mongolian Institute of Traditional Medicine reported that Goji has been used in the treatment of atrophic
gastritis, weakened digestion due to reduced stomach activity. Patients consumed 10 grams of the whole fruits each
time, three times daily before meals for two months and longer with excellent results."
Note:
As best we can tell, The Mongolian Institute of Traditional Medicine does not exist. Atrophic gastritis chronic
irritation of the stomach lining. Causes the stomach lining and glands to wither away. Improving digestion is not
a documented attribute of Goji, juice or berry.
Claim:
The Goji berry of the Solanaceae family has also been tested as an anti-obesity drug. Patients were given 30
grams each morning and each afternoon, made into a tea. Results were excellent with most patients losing significant
weight. Goji Juice is a wonderful and delicious tonic which have traditionally been used as a blood tonic, used
to nurture the heart, to relieve heart palpitation, insomnia, forgetfulness and anxiety associated with blood and
chi deficiency, especially when combined with chi tonics.
Note:
Tea made from the plant leaves, not the berries is not the same. The leaves contain different minerals and have
different properties than the berries. Chi is the Chinese definition of "life force". It has been proposed
that more or less oxygen in the blood may correspond to "chi".

More Protein than even Whole Wheat
